What makes a good or bad travel experience? I think the answer is mostly subjective and depends on  the traveler’s interests, needs and mindset. We can also take into account the hospitality and kindness of the people we meet, the food, the weather, the diversity of cultural and natural attractions, safety and many other things.

Personally, I would add another intangible element  – the energy of the places. And I believe the energy derives from a combination of the elements mentioned above.

The energy I felt when I spent one month cycling in Korea is extremely positive – check out my Tumblr blog, which contains a collection of several small elements producing this exceptional energy!

When I arrived at the customs post in Busan, the customs officer told me about his experiences traveling by bike, and gave me advice for riding in Korea. Later, at the airport in Seoul after a month, the customs officer showed me his passport control computer screen, and explained to me the operations with the few words of French he knew. I could add many other experiences, which charmed me, not to mention the wonderful encounters I had. The history of the country, its culture, vision and sense of self-criticism - which is almost absent in its neighboring countries.

Korea is now officially one of my favorite countries.
